In 2016, my family experienced a devastating and traumatic loss. In Jewish tradition, after burying a loved one, we place stones on the grave as a marker of their visit and the heaviness of grief.

This time, instead of placing plain stones, I encased them in colorful wool, felted all around the stones, as a way of acknowledging the colorful and unique personality of the one we lost. When friends found out about this new practice, they began requesting felted stones for their own loved ones.

What started as a unique way to memorialize our loved one has become a legacy that started my true journey as a wet felt fiber artist.
